As the World Turns

No need for forced smiles and friendships

when behind those smiles and relationships lies sorrow, guilt and regret.

We wonder at times how the person we are today differs from yesterday

Was it all just an illusion?

A mere figment from our imagination?

We didn’t sign up for fake friends, unfulfilled relationships and expectations.

so what changed and how?

Did we settle for safety and security instead of shooting for the stars?

or maybe this journey isn’t a race and we can be all these things

like being anxious, sad, happy and satisfied all at the same time

and that’s okay too.

  1. I was talking with a friend yesterday who said that maybe the yin and yang doesn’t look like the shape it’s portrayed in at all, but more like a chocolate and vanilla swirl because so often the light and the dark are married to each other in intricate ways. I told her that I have had to learn to accept the joys through the darkness and her analogy couldn’t be more correct. It’s inevitable, this life comes with a million possibilities and a million ways to fail at them.

    • Exactly and I’ve come to a similar conclusion in that life is not as black and white as described but more in the middle like grey and only we can make sense of it because no one can see and feel the way we do but if we’re lucky we can find people who share similar thoughts, feelings and ideas. I guess that’s the beauty of life in that through pain we appreciate our joy and happiness more and through joy we understand the depth of our pain. It’s always an immense joy and pleasure to read your words Larisa and I hope your week has been great so far and the rest of the week is even better.
