The battle between idealism and reality
are two opposites that will never reconcile.
In pursuit of an ideal tomorrow
I’ve forgotten what is most important
which is the chance to live for today.
Tomorrow will always be there,
but yet it never gets any closer
and we gaze at Yesterday through our rear view mirrors
in hopes of capturing our former glories.
Maybe the answer lies in the middle
living out our dreams without ignoring the truths of today.

This was just awesome: “Tomorrow will always be there, / but yet it never gets any closer”. That’s really completely true when you think of it. Tomorrow almost never comes; we’re just stuck in the present and then looking back to the past as you said. Great concluding line, also. And the “middle,” yes. I think it might always be the middle path we need to take. Too far either end of the spectrum and we end up in a confused state of mind. This is a very deep poem created in such a tight space. Great work with this one! It’s like teaching the correct way of living.

Thanks Benjamin and your right if we go too far on either side of the spectrum we’re limited to seeing only one perspective. At least being in the middle gives us a chance to understand and see both ways.
